Ensuring Longevity: Moisture Monitoring for Copenhagen’s School Roofs
Read case
Tector’s wireless moisture sensors are installed permanently inside flat and low-slope roof assemblies and monitor continuously for water ingress and hidden moisture in the roof insulation.

Tector’s system combines:
This comprehensive approach offers a complete moisture detection system for flat roofs (low-slope roofs in North American terms), safeguarding your building from potential water ingress.
The sensors stay embedded in the roof build-up (the roof assembly) as permanent roof monitoring: they report continuously between inspections, without repeated invasive roof surveys, rather than measuring a single moment in time - see how Tector compares to moisture meters.

Constructing a flat roof often brings significant risks. On average, these risks account for 3.31% of total construction costs, and we’ve observed more than one instance of damage during construction across various projects. Alarmingly, over 50% of flat roof projects experience defects that lead to critical disruptions post-handover.
Common causes of these defects include:
Additionally, the risk of water ingress increases with features such as:
To mitigate these risks, install Tector moisture sensors every 15-25 m² in critical areas, depending on the roof's complexity. These sensors are placed beneath the roof felt and insulation but above the waterproofing membrane.
Installation is quick and easy, taking less than a minute per sensor and can be done by your team on-site.
This proactive approach is powered by our application's pattern-based Risk Score analysis for flat roofs, with alerts when the readings warrant them.
If the roof felt is compromised and moisture starts to penetrate the insulation layer, you know straight away - allowing you to address issues before they lead to costly repairs and damage to the underlying structure.

“The sensors and user-friendly application have been a valuable addition to our quality assurance and risk management processes”

Tector’s Risk Score analyses key factors: moisture content, humidity, local rainfall and nearby sensors to generate a pattern-based risk index, indicating the likelihood of moisture issues in your roof.
By summarising complex data into an easy-to-understand risk level, Tector empowers you to manage moisture risks without needing deep technical expertise.

A flat roof sensor covers roughly 20-25 m² of roof area depending on the roof complexity.
In a warm flat-roof construction the sensor is placed on top of the vapour control layer (VCL), surrounded by the insulation.
Yes, they can easily be retrofitted into an existing roof or building. In roofs this can be done by drilling a small hole through the roof membrane, placing the sensor in the insulation layer and sealing the hole.
The sensors are designed to last for 25 years.
We strive to get back to you as quickly as possible, typically within one working day.
The system is priced per sensor and the price depends on the number of sensors needed for your project. Please contact us for a quote.
